Volunteering

The foundation of a strong Catholic school is the support it receives from its volunteers. There are a myriad of volunteer opportunities available at SPPS:

In the school/classroom:
Assist teachers with copying and other projects
Give Accelerated Reader tests to students
Assist the reading specialist and students with Great Leaps reading program (volunteers will receive training)
Be a driver/chaperone on field trips
Help copy and stuff weekly Kids Mail packets (parent communication from the school)
            Serve as a lunchroom monitor

Serve on Boards/Committees:
-Represent your feeder parish or be an “At-Large” member of the
SPPS Board
-Serve as an officer or member of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
-Participate as a member of the Physical Plant Committee for the building renovations
-Serve on the “Campaign Steering Committee” for the Saints Alive! Building Campaign

Fundraising:

SPPS is reliant on fundraising activities in a variety of areas. Those areas include:

  • Capital Campaign for the new facilities
  • PTO fundraising is for items that go back into the classroom for educational purposes
  • Development funds are for the general operating budget for SPPS. (Current annual budget for these funds is $30,000 per year)

Volunteers are needed to organize and assist with fundraising projects and events. Some of these events include:  Annual Mardi Gras/Go Green (PTO), Soup & Salvation Progressive Dinner (general operating budget), Trivia Night (general operating budget).

In 2007/08, the PTO and Development have raised over $80,000 for SPPS. The Saints Alive! Capital Campaign has raised close to $2 million  since it launch in October, 2006.

The school is always open to new fundraising ideas! If you have an idea and are interested in helping, please contact Development Director Jeanne Miller at jmiller@marketlinksusa.com or PTO President Julia Doering at ddjuju7@gmail.com.
